11.2.2 The Belaul Race

The Belaul, or Bel'ol in their own language, are an avian race native to the frozen world of Paperweight withtaloned hands, curved beaks and large vestigial wings. As their homeworld entered a rapid Ice Age due to the effects of a space battle as recently as 212AE, the Belaul have survived the extinction event by banding together into communities that carefully balance the ecology of the environments that sustain them, and developing refractory optics to warm and illuminate their enclosed communal spaces. 

With some help from the Jin survivors of the Li'gon wreck, some Belaul spacershave begun to spread their wings and find new horizons among the stars.
