9.25 Contraband

Contraband commodities are commodities that are illegal to carry in your cargohold in all factions. Carrying contraband in your ship's cargo leaves you vulnerable to NPC and player cargoscans, described in HELP SMUGGLING. NPCs will only scan your cargo when you are in the subsector of a faction of which you are not a member.

Loose contraband commodities are currently only obtained by destroying player or NPC smugglers.

If you do end up with loose contraband commodities, you can PIRACY CONTRABAND TURNIN or PIRACY CONTRABAND SELL. Selling the contraband will sell it to nefarious local distributors for maximum profits. Turning the contraband in to local authorities, on the other hand, will reward you a small fraction of its street value and earn you Warden Rating (used to track RANKINGS WARDENS).
