10.6 Planetary Exploration

Throughout the wild places of the galaxy, in the most remote corners of planets (and possibly even some asteroids), you will find access points leading to the untamed wilderness, places chock full of the resources and minerals that the survey industry and mining corps haven't managed to find yet.

If you happen to come across a wilderness entry, you can EXPLORE WILDERNESS to enter. Be warned that these places are dangerous, uncharted and full of creatures that won't be happy to see you. If the challenge is too much for you, you can LEAVE WILDERNESS from the place you entered.

The wilderness is home to undiscovered nodes of resources (minerals and gas). Your task here will be to uncover these rich nodes and claim them for yourself or for another. To do this, you must bring some triangulation gear with you. You can find this gear in shops across the world. 

In the wilderness, you will find control points where you can WILDERNESS TRIANGULATE. Stand perfectly still while you calibrate the gear or the process will be ruined. After you have found three points and have properly triangulated the location of the resources, you will uncover your reward (sometimes, you won't find resources, but various other rewards that will be worth marks).

If you do find resources, these are of the same size and scope as those found in space and, therefore, cannot be simply picked up by yourself. You will need to bring your ship in orbit and take the cargo or designate another player to do so. You perform this task by using WILDERNESS DESIGNATE <player>.

SHIP PICKUP <resource>      Pick up the resources found in the wilderness 
                            (must be right next to the actual planet or 
                            celestial body on which you found the resources.)

At any time, you may use the WILDERNESS command for a quick overview of the syntax (this only works while you are in a wilderness):

WILDERNESS LEAVE                   Leave the wilderness.
WILDERNESS TRIANGULATE             Set up triangulation gear.
WILDERNESS DESIGNATE <player>      Let someone pick up your newfound resources.
