The main things to pay attention to when deciding whether or not the item is a good choice for you are: slot, grade, health, min. level, and resists. You can also use the COMPARISON command in the Exploration skill to evaluate armor.

Slot
----
Where the item is worn on your body. There are seven slots available: head, torso, arms, hands, waist, legs, and feet. To be fully protected, it is advised to have armor of the highest minimum level possible in each slot.

Grade
-----
There are three weights of armor, or grades: light, medium, and heavy. Each class is suited to one particular grade, and is only able to wear armor of that grade.
   Light: Scoundrel, Fury
   Medium: Engineer, Nanoseer
   Heavy: BEAST

Min. level
----------
The minimum level required to wear this armor.

Resists
-------
The amount of protection this piece of armor provides against each type of damage. Armor with a higher minimum level generally has higher resist stats (see HELP DAMAGE for more).
