16.6.1 Sinful Temptations

(This is an entry for The Shop Contest 963 A.E. See: SHOPCONTEST)

Shop Name – Sinful Temptations

Ideal Location – The Gleamway

Room Description

An absolutely dazzling array of gold and crystal has gone into the construction of this upscale bakery, giving it a breathtakingly expensive appearance, fitting in quite well with its fellow shops along the Gleamway. The floor has been made of several types of crystal, all seemingly truly hewn from somewhere rather than auto-produced, as evidence by the conspicuous minor deformities seen within. The tiles have been arrayed into a tessellating sunburst pattern, travelling the entirety of the store front. Polished gold lines each tile, adding ever more onto the over-abundance of wealth the Gleamway pushes. Lining the entire back wall is a long low counter, filled to the brim with enormously elaborate, delicate, and frighteningly expensive cakes, pastries, and other sweets. Standing behind the counter is a Atarsid woman, clothed in what could reasonable pass for a baker's outfit, except scaled up and placed onto a very large spider. A quick perusal of the space behind the counter reveals the entire set-up has been designed around such a worker, with hooks and pulleys for quick ease of use amongst other more esoteric tools.

Stock list – Ideally I'd be changing at least part of the stock every 6 days (once a game month) as to keep FOMO going, I mean make it appealing and unique, like all bakeries should be.

A general idea would be a few extremely ornate sounding cakes, filled cakes, ones with too much sugar work, etc, to change out every so often. Think some very tall and extremely expensive cakes, and some very tiny amuse-bouches that are somehow even more expensive.

NPC

Name – Theraposia Blondii, secondary patissier.

Race – Atarsid

Relatively petite for an atarsid, she is still quite large and imposing. She moves around between the bakery and the storefront with equal ease. A large puffy white hat with not a speck on it sits gracefully on her head, while each long leg bears white wrappings to protect her from the heat of the kitchens as well as draping over her torso. Gracing her hat is a nametag, claiming her name to be Theraposia, secondary patissier.

Greets Shulamit, the primary patissier deferentially but not like, over the top so. Greets Whoorn politely, but with a glint of hunger in her eyes (her name is based off goliath birdeater tarantulas). She'll also imply there's sometimes exotic candies and stuff, but if anyone asks about them, oooh, too bad, a very wealthy patron was in JUST before you, and bought them all out! But maybe you can try next time they make a different candy!

Part 2

Opening a pastry shop in the Gleamway because it needs an extremely upscale pastry shop for those pastries that, admittedly, look really nice, but come on, can not REALLY be worth that much, so you buy a single one, and eat it, and man it's good but not...not that good, but you spent the money, so maybe it WAS that good, you fool yourself into thinking.

It fits in because the Gleamway is wealthy, rich, and needs to have their money extracted from them, one obscenely pretty yet way overpriced pastry at a time, while they get to talk about the new delicacies they tried, oh whoops, you didn't get there in time? Too bad, guess you should get there more often!

My character be a shopkeeper because it....makes stuff. It likes baking. It also deeply likes the idea of taking money from rich dinguses while still providing extremely nice items, hence why it lives in Scatterhome. Its methods of stealing just involve more upscale tactics, and less with a knife. Although it has a knife. For cooking.

Thank you for your time!
