101 The Iron Carnival

The Iron Carnival
-----------------

Once a star-studded blowout of a celebration that travelled the lands, the Iron Carnival gained a reputation as the most dazzling, transcendent show a visitor could experience. Packed full of games, fairground amusements, and tasty treats from near, far, and beyond, there was always sure to be something to tickle your fancy every visit!

Unfortunately, due to staffing troubles and unfriendly competition, it now exists as a mere shadow of its former self and Grimbeard is in search of competent to help to bring his Carnival dreams back into reality.

FAQ
---

** How can I help with the Iron Carnival? **

The first stage of the Carnival asks visitors to assist with Building up the various unopened and half-constructed areas for its acts and performers. Once an area is built, Grimbeard will ask for assistance marketing the area to pull in crowds and funding to continue the fun. It is up to you, as a trusted adventurer, to help Grimbeard bring his vision to life by grabbing jobs off the board SOUTHWEST of the Big Top entrance.

As you complete Building quests in the first stage, you'll bring in materials and workers to boost the development of unopened areas of the Carnival. Every 5 days the unopened area with the most contributions across all the Iron Realms games will open for everyone for the duration of the event. Check the status of this with CARNIVAL AREAS.

Once an area is open, Crowd quests will become available on the job board. With each contribution, visitors will flock in to the areas you assist with. As the crowds grow, the spirit of the Carnival will improve, inspiring unique mini-events per area and occasionally bringing Percivale the Ringmaster to dangerously excitable states. You can check the crowd states with CARNIVAL CROWDS.

** Who is Percivale? **

Percivale Flambeaux, the new Ringmaster of the Iron Carnival, is extremely excitable and well-intended, but a buffoon in his own right. At every turn, the bombastically supportive mustache afficionado has failed to get the Carnival rolling, and his efforts to overcompensate often go awry.

Every time an area becomes fully operational or when crowds flood an area, Percivale is bound to get a smidge over-inspired and go on a bit of a rampage. As the Carnival exists simultaneously in many dimensions and times, its important that all adventurers act quickly to subdue the Ringmaster and restore peace for the Carnival's visitors.

An accomplished mage in his own right, Percivale has a diverse bag of tricks that will only expand as he gains inspiration from newly opened parts of the Iron Carnival. Those who assist Grimbeard with calming his ringmaster down will find themselves well compensated for their time.

** What are Iron Carnival tickets? **

Iron Carnival tickets are Grimbeard's promised payment for various tasks and games in the Iron Carnival itself! Use these tickets to participate in minigames and purchase souvenirs, goods, and other trinkets that commemorate the grand return of this vast spectacle!

Earn Iron Carnival Tickets by helping with Building and Crowd quests over the course of the event. Pick up quests on the job board SOUTHWEST of the Big Top entrance.

Those who hold high scores from the various games may also reap additional rewards for their prowess, and there is even a possibility that one can make a name for themselves here upon the carnival grounds.

** What sorts of activities await us in the Iron Carnival? **

In addition to the Carnival quests, there are all sorts of games available in each area, such as pie-eating contests, dart throwing, a dunk tank, clowns in need of loving abuse in the form of chalk and paint, and even a spinning wheel that allows a glimpse of the land from high above.

For those less interested in games, there await performances such as dancing fire eaters, a diverse menagerie of barely tamed beasts, a mechanical prophet who speaks unto the masses, and a wizened fortune teller who always seems to know just a little too much for comfort. Sport a new look with the face painters and gaze upon the phantasmal specters of visitors from another world!
