6.20 Class Customizations

What is Class Customization?
----------------------

An extension of Item Customization (HELP ITEM CUSTOMIZATION), class customizations are usually paid for in bound credits (though a few options are marks only) and serve to enhance the flavor of your class even further. With the Class Customization system you may:

  - Change the appearance of your weapons and armor to a custom one devised by you
  - Customize class loyals (if you're an engineer)
  - Learn and copy the appearance of weapons and armor that exist in game
  - Customize your B.E.A.S.T. suit (if you're a B.E.A.S.T)

How to Make a Customization Request
----------------------

To create a new customization request, you will use the CUSTOMIZE CLASS command. Typing CUSTOMIZE CLASS by itself will give you a syntax menu that clearly defines the commands necessary for submitting and editing your request.

To view an example of the entire submission process and all associated syntax, visit the following link. While this example applies to item customization, the process is largely the same:

How does it work?
---------------------------

Depending on what class you are, you may create a NEW customization option for items that are relevant to you. As such, you may only customize weapons that your class can use. Once a customization is approved, it will become available in your list and you should think of them as weapon and armor "skins". That means you can freely APPLY that customization to any weapon or armor that is genelocked to you. These customizations cost bound credits as per the table in the Costs section.

Learning existing patterns
---------------------------

There are tons of weapon and armor variations in the world and maybe, the kind you have now doesn't suit you, or maybe you want to have that limited event weapon appearance forever.

To this end, you may CUSTOMIZE CLASS LEARN <item>, to learn everything there is about an item's appearance. This has a small lesson cost and will DESTROY the item you are learning from. However, once you do this, you may apply that weapon or armor look to any compatible item.

Class loyals
------------

Engineers can also customize their class loyals (in this case, the bots). The process is largely similar to every other type of customization. An engineer may also specify that a certain bot customization is DEFAULT (see the syntax for this). Doing this will automatically apply that customization to that type of bot whenever it is constructed.

B.E.A.S.T suits
---------------

B.E.A.S.T.s may now freely customize the appearance of their suit with a freeform description, using the CUSTOMIZE CLASS SUIT <desc> syntax. This has a small marks cost associated with it.

Costs
-----
Bound credits* must be used to purchase customizations, where indicated.

WEAPONS - 100 credits
ARMOR PIECE - 50 credits
CLASS LOYAL - 100 credits

LEARN A PATTERN - 25 lessons
APPLY A PATTERN - 1000 marks
B.E.A.S.T SUIT - 1000 marks

* Atomic matter articulators, which can sometimes be found in monthly promotional items or on the trade market, can be applied to any customisation request for 50 credits off the final cost.

Payment
-------
Do not send or transfer credits! Payment will be taken directly when the customization is complete.

If you have an atomic matter articulator to use for your request, make a note referring to the articulator's item number on your submission.

More About Custom Descriptions
------------------------------
See HELP WRITING STANDARDS for more on acceptable standards for a description customization. All customization description requests submitted must follow the guidelines in HELP WRITING STANDARDS.

Custom descriptions may include the following three fields:

-----

APPEARANCE - seen when using INV, II, or IH.

Examples:
        - a high-tech wristwatch
	- an airy hover cushion

Do not capitalise, do not punctuate. No commas.
** Must not exceed 50 characters. **

----

DROPPED - seen when the item is on the floor.

Examples:
	- A high-tech wristwatch has been abandoned on the ground.
	- An airy hover cushion floats serenely nearby.

Make this a sentence, with initial capital and a final "." No exclamation points or question marks.
** Must not exceed 80 characters. **

----

EXAMINED - seen when looking at, showing off, or PROBE(ing) the item:

Examples:
	- This wristwatch is the latest and most stylish LUCENT tech offering, sleek and white with a flexible nanoplastic band of pure white. It wraps the wrist nicely, a SmartCore in the band causing it to close and adjust the fit all by itself.
	- Thrumming with the pulse of a low-power hover engine built into its base, this large, square cushion floats gently just a few centimeters off the ground. The material covering the plump cushion is a rich, blue-toned paisley.

Do not tell the viewer how to react, or impose actions on the viewer (e.g. "You gasp in surprise"). This is not good form. Remember to show, rather than tell. Multiple sentences allowed. Have fun with it!

Customization Rejection
------------------------------
Starmourn's staff reserves the right to reject a customization request for any reason. If your customization request is rejected, don't fret. Your credit balance will not be depleted until your request is accepted and approved. You will most likely be asked to adjust your submission and try again. Read this helpfile, along with HELP WRITING STANDARDS, carefully.
