16.6.4 Jinspiration

(This is an entry for The Shop Contest 963 A.E. See - SHOPCONTEST)

Shop Name: Jinspiration

Idea Location: The shuttered shop on Iota Station

Side Room: FeTek Foundry

Shop Description: Tucked neatly into Iota station, this storefront is neatly kept and well lit. The floor, walls and ceiling appear to be large slabs of ferrosteel, cut and shaped in such a manner that reminds you of ship hull plating. Safety glass and gentle white partitions separate displays from one another. Weapons of all types, suits of personal body armors and unique scientific instruments are all neatly sectioned in a way that leaves the shop full, but not cluttered feeling, allowing organic ease of navigation.

Side Room Description: A machine shop to make any inventor drool, many a brainchild of <name> has been born here. A desk runs the length of the entire back wall, holographic displays popping up showing a half-dozen projects mid-way through consideration. Giant tool boxes contain tools of every sort, allowing for work on the nano-scale all the way up to B.E.A.S.T. innovation or repair. Small helper bots constantly race from project to project, performing their assigned tasks and keeping the air filled with the sounds of industrial excitement.

Stock List: The stock will be fairly varied. From mods of all types to clothing to furnishings and more. The owner has an Omnipass and plans to use it. Will hopefully in the future include B.E.A.S.T. suit types and Engineer bot types.

Decor:
-A BEAST suit lift. Perhaps with a cleaning cycle for BEAST pilots. If in the future BEAST suits can be made as items, a method for them to buy new models as well(if allowable).
-A large display case for various smaller inventions, such as Engineer bots and other fun toys.

NPC: ROAR, the Automated B.E.A.S.T.
A fully autonomous early model B.E.A.S.T. suit loaded with the ROAR program. Advertises new BEAST and Engineer equipment, recent FeTek inventions. When asked what ROAR stands for, describes how it was allowed to pick its own name, and it decided that since it was a Really Obviously Awesome Robot, the choice was simple.

Description: The ROAR AI seems to have taken up residence in an early model of the famed FeTek Minuteman B.E.A.S.T. model. A heavyweight exosuit, the early Minuteman frame is a clear predecessor to the current design. Showing many of Rylek's design philosophies, its sleek armor panels are precisely positioned to deflect most incoming fire, with a heavy exoskeleton supporting the armor during direct impacts. This early prototype has been modified from the original design, however, as it lacks the need for a pilot. In its place, a large computer core has been installed behind thickened armor plates. Lining all the armor plates and weapon hardpoints are blue running lights, offering a rather ostentatious flare no B.E.A.S.T. pilot would ever be willing to take onto the battlefield.

Background:
My character has been a tinkerer and inventor since childhood. Like most Jin in the Starmourn sector, he grew up on the Blood Ark, a failing remnant of Jin technology. Finding himself quite adept at making old parts from various machines work together to new purposes, he was encouraged by his elders to lean into his gifts. By the time he was a young adult, my character was renowned within the Jin community for his inventive designs and resourcefulness.
These days he uses his private company, FeTek Industries, to fund new inventions, and release them to the public. With the opening of a new shop, he hopes to enjoy the experience of a shopfront and customer interaction the trade terminals simply cannot.

The dynasty have based most of their industrial processing out of Iota station, and so it makes the most sense for my character to open his shop there, close to resources and in a place the public can easily access. Plus Iota is already known by many to be a place the dynasty works from. A new shop should fit into one of the shuttered shops on the station quite easily.
